PNY Technologies announced its new ultrahigh performance graphic boards, the Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 by PNY and Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 by PNY. The company claims that the 5800 is "the most powerful professional graphics board in graphics history."

Both of the scalable GPU accelerated solutions are available in Genlock/framelock and high-definition serial digital interface (HD-SDI) versions. Based on Nvidia's second generation unified architecture and offering up to 4Gbyte GPU memory, which Nvidia says is an industry-first, they are designed to handle massive datasets and specialized needs for the visualization and simulation, oil and gas exploration, and broadcast and film markets.

"GraphStream is pleased to work together with PNY and Nvidia to launch a new generation of innovative platforms based on the Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 by PNY," said Craig Dunwoody, CEO of GraphStream Inc. "Relative to previous platforms, we are offering improvements of up to 200 to 400 percent in the performance and capacity of the GPUs. This will bring dramatic efficiency gains to a wide range of technical-computing applications."

"With its enormous 4Gbyte frame buffer and high performance, the Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 SDI by PNY provides GPU-centric applications like Assimilate's Scratch with immediate benefits and huge potential going forward," said Jeff Edson, president and CEO of Assimilate.

"By combining advanced visualization and computational performance, these latest additions to the Nvidia Quadro FX ultra high-end professional graphics board family enable our partners to deliver next-generation solutions for large scale clusters, aerospace image generators, tiled wall displays, high-definition projection, as well as film and broadcast applications," said Jeff Medeiros, senior business development manager at PNY Technologies.

The new line up includes:

??Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 by PNY¡ªit offers memory bandwidth of up to 102Gbyte/s and 240 CUDA programmable parallel cores.

??Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 by PNY¡ªfeatures 1.5Gbyte frame buffer with 76.8Gbyte/s memory bandwidth. It delivers a second-generation Nvidia unified architecture GPU delivering up to 50 percent increased performance over first-generation products through 192 processor cores. Both ultra high performance graphics boards are available in a:

??Genlock/frame lock version¡ªcapabilities provide the functionality required for advanced multi-system visualization environments.

??SDI version¡ªDelivering uncompressed SDI output in 2K, HD or SD format, these graphics boards are the ultimate HD-SDI "live-to-air" broadcast and film solution.

Other features include interactive 4D modeling with time lapse capabilities; true 10bit color enabling billions rather than millions of color variations for rich, vivid image quality with the broadest dynamic range; Nvidia SLI technology for improved graphics performance; dual DisplayPort support for ultra-high resolution panels (up to 2,560 x 1,600); quad buffered stereo connector; dual-link DVI-I display connectivity; Nvidia PureVideo HD technology for outstanding picture clarity, smooth video playback, and accurate color and precise image scaling for SD and HD content; and full Shader Model 4.0 and DirectX 10 capability support and full industry-standard OpenGL 2.1 support for Windows or Linux.
