8-/16bit MCUs tout 0.7A standby current consumption

Gleichmann Electronics has added six new MCUs to the 78K0/KY2-L and 78K0/KA2-L 8bit MCU families and six low power consumption 16bit MCUs of the 78K0R-KF3-L and 78K0R/KG3-L series.

The new 8bit MCUs, manufactured by NEC Electronics, feature a standby current consumption of 0.7A and an operating current of 260A at 1MHz clock frequency. An integrated high-speed oscillator and peripheral units such as ADC and op amp reduce the need for additional external components.

The 16bit versions are targeted for battery-operated sensor applications, and have an integrated high-speed ADC with many analog inputs. They have a current consumption of 1.0A in standby mode with active watchdog and 6.8mA at the maximum operating frequency of 20MHz. Because of the integrated voltage amplifier, rewriting of flash memories requires only 1.8V. Thus, a battery-fed power supply is sufficient for the reprogramming of mobile devices.

Mass production of the new 8bit and 16bit MCUs is scheduled to begin Q3 09.
