Analog Devices Inc. introduced one of the industry's fastest FET op amp currently available. Operating at 1GHz, the ADA4817 was designed for high-performance medical diagnostic and portable devices, as well as instrumentation equipment.

According to ADI, these FastFET op amps provide double the bandwidth with half the noise of competing devices.

The ADA4817-1 (single) and ADA4817-2 (dual) FastFET amplifiers are unity-gain stable, ultrahigh-speed voltage feedback amplifiers with FET inputs. These amplifiers were developed with ADI's proprietary eXtra Fast Complementary Bipolar process, which allows the amplifiers to achieve a combination of high speed and ultra-low noise (4nV/Hz; 2.5fA/Hz) as well as very high input impedance.

With low noise, low offset voltage (2mV maximum), 1.5pF of input capacitance, and 1,050MHz '3dB bandwidth, the ADA4817-1 and ADA4817-2 are ideal for data acquisition front ends and wideband transimpedance applications, such as photodiode preamps. A voltage range of 5V to 10V gives these FastFET amplifiers the ability to operate on either single or dual supplies. The ADA4817-1/ ADA4817-2 are designed to work in a variety of applications, including active filtering and ADC driving.

In 1,000-unit quantities, the ADA4817-1 is $2.95 each, and the ADA4817-2 is $4.98 each. Both products are now available.
