Tektronix debuts 'fastest' serial data analysis oscilloscopes

The latest oscilloscopes from Tektronix Inc.DPO70000B digital phosphor oscilloscope (DPO) and DSA70000B digital serial analyzer (DSA) seriesare being touted as the industry's fastest for third-generation serial data analysis.

Already offering very high bandwidth for real-time oscilloscopes and with an optimal jitter noise floor, the new "B" models now also provide high vertical noise performance, a flat frequency response and high effective number of bits, according to Tektronix. Adding to the Pinpoint Trigger system, the models also provide fast hardware-based pattern triggering for advanced serial data bus speeds at rates up to 5Gbit/s.

In addition, new upgrade options via the Tektronix SpeedBooster upgrade program, enable "B" series customers to upgrade their bandwidth from 4GHz to 6-, 8-, 12.5-, 16- and ultimately to 20GHz. This enables engineers to purchase what they need today, and easily increase the bandwidth of their instrument as test requirements change in the future, protecting their initial investment.

'Scalable performance'
The DPO/DSA70000B series oscilloscopes provide support on all channels simultaneously for high bandwidth, deep memory, fast sample rate and fast waveform capture rate. The models can be used to debug signals running up to 12Gbit/s on each of four lanes, making them ideal for design engineers developing and testing multilane, high-speed serial data applications including PCIe 3, SATA 6Gbit/s, SuperSpeed USB, HDMI, DisplayPort and Ethernet.

The DPO/DSA70000B series oscilloscopes provide scalable performance with 4-, 6-, 8-, 12.5-, 16- and 20GHz models. This level of performance is necessary for testing high-speed technologies. The 20GHz DSA72004B provides 5th harmonic measurements on signals running up to 8Gbit/s and 3rd harmonic measurements for data rates up to 12Gbit/s. This performance satisfies the SI measurement and compliance requirements of the latest third generation serial bus architectures. The FastAcq acquisition mode provides a capture rate greater than 300,000 waveforms per second.

Pricing begins at $53,300 U.S. MSRP for the 4GHz DPO70404B.
