ITT Interconnect Solutions has released a complete line of rugged audio connectors designed to withstand extreme field use. The XLR audio connector plugs and receptacles feature precision machined contacts, shock-absorbing rubber insulators and lightweight aluminum shells.

Available in configurations of 2-7 positions, the XLR audio connectors feature a quick disconnect latch lock and multiple plating options. The RoHS-compliant audio connectors are specified for use in microphones, recorders, VCRs, amplifiers, mixers and TV cameras; as well as test instruments, industrial control devices and medical instruments.

"We have been providing audio connectors for more than 50 years, and we have seen a renewed interest from customers for connectors capable of supporting the latest advancements in digital equipment and audio cables, including more ruggedized components," said Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for

ITT. "The enhanced design of our audio connectorsincluding the rubber socket insulator which minimizes vibration and electrical noise, limiting distortion from outside sourcesallows us to meet these demands in industries ranging from music to medical."

Typical pricing for the XLR audio connectors ranges from $4.50 to $2.75 in quantities of 100 to 500 pieces. Lead time is from stock to 10 weeks.
