Primetime now enables 2x faster runtime

The multicore processing technology makes more effective use of both single-core and multicore processors across compute server farms, harnessing their compute potential, according to Synopsys.

New runtime optimizations available in the new release, PrimeTime 2008.12, allow designers to run faster time and SI analysis on large designs early in the design process, reducing design closure iterations, Synopsys said.

The improvements work in concert to deliver up to 2x faster runtime and have been confirmed on a suite of semiconductor companies' designs ranging in size from 1 million to 50 million instances, Synopsys said.

According to the EDA vendor, PrimeTime 2008.12 is available now to all current PrimeTime customers and includes quad-core licensing as a standard feature.
