AMP Netconnect MRJ21

Tyco Electronics Corp. has announced a new version of the AMP Netconnect MRJ21 cabling system with optimized performance in environments such as todays enterprise data centers that are sensitive to EMI.

Because of the increasing demands on additional technology and capacity, the number of network connections in a data center is continually increasing. Irrespective of the connection type, the highest possible port density supported by a scalable, modular cabling system is a critical requirement of the modern data center.

The AMP Netconnect MRJ21 shielded twisted pair (STP) cabling system provides these key features, with connectors that are terminated and tested in the factory to enable customers to deploy real "plug-and-go" solutions.

The new next-generation MRJ21 STP cabling system is based on the existing MRJ21 cabling system, but with improved EMC performance and better signal integrity.

"EMC is a crucial element of a data center," said Julian Riley, sales director in U.K. and Ireland for the AMP Netconnect business unit of Tyco Electronics. "Today, many customers ask for EMC protection as a matter of course, particularly to ensure high availability in the data center environment, where sensitive IT systems are often installed alongside potential sources of disturbance."

"The new STP shielded MRJ21 cabling system design provides superb screening performance, allowing Tyco Electronics to combine market requirements and technical performance," he added.
