Global Equipment Service Vietnam (GES Vietnam) has opened its semiconductor equipment manufacturing and service center at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP). With a total investment capital of $36 million, the 6000-square-meter facility came into operation two years after the license was granted in 2007.

Amid the economic downturn, GES Vietnam's new facility sent a positive signal on the improved investment environment in SHTP in particular, and in Vietnam as a whole. The project is expected to employ 500 local engineers and produce 200 equipment units for export every year.

The new manufacturing and service center has demonstrated GES' long-term commitment to Vietnam and to SHTP. The facility also underscored SHTP's effort to develop the value chain for semiconductor industry in Vietnam, which has been significantly promoted by the establishment of Intel's $1 billion assembly and test facility in Ho Chi Minh City in late 2006.
