FRAM state savers tailored for automotive apps

Ramtron International Corp. announced the FM1105-GA and FM1106-GA non-volatile state savers, based on ferroelectric RAM technology, have been qualified over the full automotive temperature range.

Ramtron said its FM1105-GA and FM1106-GA state savers have received AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification, and can be used by auto designers across the entire automotive temperature range from -40C to +125C.

The devices save the state of signals and restore them when power is returned. Ferroelectric RAM technology helps enable the capability thanks to fast write times and low power requirements.

The state savers provide access to non-volatile system settings without reading a memory or consuming dedicated processor I/O pins. Ramtron said they also enable storage of signals that may change frequently and without notice and allows the nonvolatile storage of system settings without additional system overhead or extra pins of a serial memory.

Ramtron said samples of the FM1105-GA and FM1106-GA are available now. The devices are packaged in an 8-pin SOIC that is RoHS-compliant. Pricing is 44 cents in quantities of 10,000 units.
