Xilinx University Program (XUP), Beijing University of Technology and the Chinese Ministry of Education have entered a joint venture that has culminated in the grand opening of a new BJUT-Xilinx Advanced Research & Teaching Facility. The new 2,000-square meter facility will include three laboratories dedicated to embedded system design and fully equipped with hardware, software, FPGA silicon, IP and tools provided through XUP donations and government grants.

The Open Source Hardware and Embedded System Contest will officially kicked-off at the signing ceremony of the new research and teaching facility. The ceremony also hosted a series of technology lectures and workshops, delivered by professors and industry executives from Australia, China, United Kingdom and United States.

"We're honored to collaborate with Beijing University of Technology and the Chinese Ministry of Education to put in place a program that gives young engineers the key skills required to successfully exploit state-of-the-art technology and the confidence to become future innovators," said Patrick Lysaght, senior director of XUP and Xilinx Research Labs. "Experts from China and abroad are committed to developing of a world-class curriculum that will incorporate best practice from teaching, research and industry from around the world."
