Akros Silicon Inc. is offering what it claims to be the PoE power SoC with 2kV integrated isolation for next-generation IP appliances such as IP phones, IP cameras, wireless access points, Thin Client terminals and WiMAX customer-premises equipments.

Built around Akros' patented GreenEdge digital isolation technology, the AS1854 eliminates low-speed, bulky optocouplers and integrates functionality of up to nine separate ICs used in current solutions, including a third-generation IEEE 802.3af/at PD controller and quad-output digital power DC/DC converters.

The AS1854 features cross-isolation DC/DC timing management and digital power control that delivers higher DC/DC efficiency across the range of light- to full-load conditions. With seamless communication between the primary and secondary power domains, the AS1854 implements many advance diagnostic features and high-voltage telemetry features. This enables remote power management and IT servicing of devices, therefore reducing IT "truck rolls" and service costs for end customers.

The AS1854 is available for $4.69 each.
