32bit MCU delivers industrial reliability

CML Microsystems Plc's specialist semiconductor and microprocessor daughter-company, Hyperstone has unveiled a new RISC/DSP microcontroller. A RoHS compliant 32bit RISC/DSP MCU, the E2 features a programmable serial communications engine, ADC unit and 32Kbit of on-chip I-RAM, complemented with an external memory and peripheral interface controller.

With the industry-leading performance of 640MOPS/160MHz peak, the cost-effective 32bit RISC/DSP MCU solution claims industrial reliability for industrial sensing and control applications, consumer applications, metering, scanning EPOS among other applications.

The E2's price/performance also makes it a suitable solution for migrating from an 8bit MCU to the performance and design benefits of 32bit architecture.

Hyperstone also offers a development kit to ensure ease of migration to the E2 and fast time-to-market. It includes a populated board, software development tools (IDE), C/C++ compiler, linker, assembler, source-level debugger with profiler, runtime kernel and DSP library. The company also provides global technical design support.

Key features include: 32bit unified RISC and DSP processor architecture, dynamic frequency scaling, power-down and sleep modes, power consumption of 200mW typical, very high code density, programmable 8-channel serial communications engine, 10bit eight-channel multiplexed ADC (sample rate 182kHz), versatile two-channel DMA and a real-time clock.

The E2 is available now in a 144-pin LQFP package (0C to +70C or -40C to 85C).
