Miniature PCS duplexer suits UMTS handsets
Keywords:PCX duplexer? UMTS handsets? miniature duplexer?
According to Avago, the ACMD-7407 duplexer is 33 percent smaller than its previous versions. Designed using Avago's FBAR technology, the UMTS duplexer has a common footprint and targets designers of PCS handsets and data terminals operating on the U.S. PCS frequency band.
The ACMD-7407 is a low insertion loss, high isolation duplexer that was developed using Avago's Microcap bonded-wafer chip scale packaging technology. This process enabled this UMTS PCS duplexer to be assembled in a molded chip-on-board module that is less than 0.9mm high with a footprint of 2.0mm x 2.5mm. Additionally, the ACMD-7407 duplexer enhances the sensitivity and dynamic range of PCS receivers by providing more than 55dB isolation of the transmitted signal at the receiver input, and more than 47dB rejection of transmit-generated noise in the receive band, thus enabling the removal of interstage Tx and Rx filters.
The maximum insertion loss in the Tx channel is only 2.7dB, which minimizes current drain from the power amplifier. Insertion loss in the Rx channel is 3.2dB maximum to improve receiver sensitivity. The power handling capability of the FBAR bulk-mode resonators supports the high output power levels needed in PCS handsets while adding virtually no distortion.
The ACMD-7407 is now available. Pricing starts at $1.99 in 10,000 unit volumes.
