DC/DC converters claim up to 92% efficiency

IQ12 converter

SynQor has launched a series of DC/DC converters that accept an input range of 9Vin to 22Vin, exceeding the requirements of EN50155 for both steady state and transient voltage conditions in 12V railway systems.

The IQ12 converters incorporate next-generation, board-mountable, fixed switching frequency technology and use synchronous rectification to achieve power conversion efficiencies approaching 92 percent. They are available as standard products for industrial and transportation applications that use 12V battery systems.

The IQ12 series comprises eleven output voltages: 1.8-, 3.3-, 5-, 7-, 12-, 15-, 24-, 28-, 30-, 40- and 48V. Four power level options are available in order to optimize cost, performance and space in new designs. Fully encased and ruggedized for protection from harsh environments, the 180W and 140W converters are offered in the industry-standard half brick form factor, while the 100W and 75W converters are available in the standard quarter brick form factor.

The converters are suitable for a variety of applications using 12V battery systems because of the broad range of power levels and output voltages that the IQ12 can handle. These include industrial automation, process control, electronic equipment on transit buses, construction, mining and maintenance vehicles, forklifts, and other industrial vehicles. The use of fixed switching frequency technology simplifies EMI filtering when the IQ12 converter is used in combination with the complementary IQ040PFQTC30 filter module.

In addition, the series provides on/off control referenced to input side, remote sense for the output voltage and an output voltage trim range of -20 percent, +10 percent. Protection features include input under-voltage lockout, input over-voltage shutdown, output current limit and short circuit protection, active back bias limit, output over-voltage protection and thermal shutdown. All models have at least 2,250Vdc isolation rating between input and output, are rated with MTBF values in excess of 2MHrs, and are fully 6/6 RoHS compliant.

The IQ12 series is available immediately from stock for evaluation and qualification. Production quantities are available with 8-12 week lead-times, depending upon volumes. In OEM quantities, pricing for the IQ12 series 75W module is value priced starting at $92.
