cPCI-6880 blade

Adlink Technology Inc. has launched the cPCI-6880 series of 6U CompactPCI blades featuring 45nm Intel Core2 Duo processor T9400 offering 2.53GHz core speed, 6Mbyte L2 cache and 1066MHz FSB with 40W typical total power consumption. The cPCI-6880 utilizes the latest Mobile Intel GM45 Graphics Memory Controller Hub, supporting dual-channel DDR2-800 SDRAM on one SO-DIMM socket and optional 4Gbyte soldered onboard memory up to a maximum of 8Gbyte.

By balancing computing performance and power consumption in a CompactPCI blade for the embedded market, the cPCI-6880 is a suitable solution for transportation, military and mission critical applications, with its soldered memory and optional extended operating temperature range of -20 to +70C. To meet the needs of applications in harsh environments with extreme thermal range, vibration, shock or other stresses, a rugged conduction-cooled version with the same electronic design as the cPCI-6880, the CT-60, will be available in Q4 09.

With the Intel 45nm Core2 Duo processor, GM45 Express Chipset and integrated Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, the cPCI-6880 not only provides excellent computing performance but also graphics efficiency with a 40 percent improvement on 3DMark06 score over the previous generation GME965. A DVI-I interface is provided on the front panel and VGA is routed to the Rear Transition Module (RTM). The cPCI-6880 can be operated in a system slot as master or in a peripheral slot (universal mode) to meet compute-density demands.

In addition, the cPCI-6880 series accommodates a 2.5-inch serial ATA hard drive directly mounted on the SBC and RTM, an optional CompactFlash slot and built in 4Gbyte USB NAND flash for additional storage options. Available I/Os include four GbE ports (two on front panel, two for rear I/O or PICMG 2.16), three USB 2.0 ports, and one RJ-45 serial port.

For I/O expansion, the cPCI-6880 series offers one PCI-X 64-bit/66MHz PMC site and user defined I/O signals to rear I/O. Available RTMs additionally offer three SATA ports, five USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232 serial ports, two GbE ports, PS/2 keyboard/mouse port, Mic-in and Line-out ports and 68-pin Ultra 320 SCSI interface with hardware RAID 1 capability.

The cPCI-6880 series is validated for use with Microsoft Windows XP Professional and x64 Edition, Windows Vista x64 Edition, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 and Vxworks 6.6.
