NEC has released two new high-power RF switches, the ?PG2409T6X and ?PG2409TB, available through California Eastern Laboratories (CEL).

Both are high power GaAs MMIC SPDT switches, which have been redesigned to reduce cost. Applications include WiMAX, Wi-Fi, automatic meter reading and other wireless systems that require high RF power handling, high isolation and low insertion loss. Both switches enable WiMAX mobile stations as well as Wi-Fi access points for 802.11a/b/g/n home and office networks. These switches are also intended for smart meters used for automatic meter reading and the new electric utility smart grid.

The ?PG2409T6X can operate from 0.05GHz to 6GHz, with low insertion loss of 0.45dB @ 2.5GHz, 0.65dB @ 6GHz and 0.55dB @ 3.8GHz and high isolation of 30dB @ 2.5GHz and 27dB @ 6GHz. The ?PG2409T6X is housed in a 6-pin plastic TSON package, and is suitable for high-density surface mounting.

The ?PG2409TB can operate from 0.5 to 3.8GHz, with low insertion loss of 0.45dB @ 2.5GHz and 0.60dB @ 3.8GHz and high isolation of 23dB @ 2.7GHz and 19dB @ 3.8GHz. It is housed in a 6 pin Super Mini Mold (SOT-363) package.

The ?PG2409T6X is $0.46 and the ?PG2409TB is $0.42, both in quantities of 100,000.
