EPON Transceiver improves optical net performance

The GN7350 is designed to enable early testing of 10G EPON systems. The GN7350 combines functionality from Gennum's clock and data recovery (CDR) and laser driver technologies to enable customers to build prototype systems for in-house and field testing.
Gennum's production-proven CDR embedded in the GN7350 is designed to enhance robustness of 10G EPON links by eliminating the excessive channel noise that is present in PON systems. Through re-timing the high-speed signal, the CDR within the GN7350 ensures high link margin and low jitter signal. This provides much needed margin on the IEEE P802.3av 10G EPON standard, simplifies the module design, and enables interoperability with different Media Access Control vendors.
