SemiLEDs Corp. is offering its I-core LED that achieves over 120lm/W in an optimized white light package, as tested by two China LED packaging companies, Nationstar Optoelectronics and Sengled. Achieving over 120lm/W in mass production is a great step toward enabling LEDs to address a growing number of applications while saving energy and costs.
The tests performed by Nationstar Optoelectronics and Sengled were performed at 350mA in a 1W package with SemiLEDs 45mil I-core LED chip, which is currently available in mass production along with the 40mil I-core LED. The tests confirmed that SemiLEDs new I-core LED is able to deliver over 120lm/W, a significant achievement. With these results, both companies plan to ramp capacity for street light applications.
SemiLEDs uses a patented and proprietary MvpLED chip technology that features a vertical structure with a copper alloy base for brightness, thermal management and reliability. The new I-core LED from SemiLEDs has not only made significant improvements in brightness, but great advances in reliability have also been achieved.
The I-core LED is available in SemiLEDs ultrahigh-bright chip portfolio in blue (white), in both 40mil and 45mil chip sizes.
