LMS6002D RF transceiver

Lime Microsystems has developed the LMS6002D, a multiband, multistandard RF transceiver IC designed for small-cell base stations and femtocells, featuring an integrated high-performance dual ADC and DAC. This single-chip transceiver delivers increased levels of integration over the company's analogue version, the LMS6002. Highly frequency agile, the transceiver operates at user-selectable frequencies between 375MHz and 4GHz and is suitable for 3G, WiMAX, and LTE operation.

Ebrahim Bushehri, CEO of Lime Microsystems comments, "The LMS6002D transceiver meets our customers' demands for cost reduction by increasing the level of integration and reducing component count while maintaining high performance and design flexibility."

The LMS6002D can be digitally configured to operate in the full range of frequency bands between 375MHz and 4GHz, with 16 user-selectable bandwidths of up to 28MHz. It can therefore transmit and receive data across all WCDMA and CDMA bands, as well as those used or planned for WiMAX and LTE. This removes the need for individual transceiver chips for each of the different bands, and allows a small cell base station to be reconfigured rapidly and simply. The resulting reduction in BOM cuts costs and inventory for OEMs.

The LMS6002D features high performance dual 12bit ADC and DAC blocks which provide the necessary multiplexed parallel interface to all currently available baseband ICs on the market for femtocell applications. It is packaged in a 9mm x 9mm 116-pin DQFN package, and is available alongside an evaluation platform and reference design. Samples are available now.
