Mavrix helps bring MIPS to mobile devices

MIPS Technologies Inc. and Mavrix Technology Inc. are working together to develop a MIPS-based applications processor for mobile devices.

Mavrix and MIPS are working closely with companies in MIPS' mobile ecosystem to develop a mobile SoC design that leverages the revolutionary Android platform. Leveraging a MIPS32 CPU core from MIPS, Mavrix will target mobile applications including cellphones, portable media players and mobile Internet devices. Mavrix already has design wins with major Chinese cellphone OEMs using its MIPS-Based SoCs as co-processors for audio/video decoding. This new relationship builds on the companies' existing relationship and involvement in these cellphone products.
