USB connector touts high reliability, rugged durability

Targeting mobile phones, MP3 players, PDAs and digital cameras, FCI has released a connector that complies with the physical, electrical and environmental requirements of USB 2.0 standard.

The new Micro USB connector features an extremely small design as well as high reliability and rugged durability. According to FCI, the Micro USB connector is nearly 60 percent smaller than the average mini-USB connector.

The Micro USB Connector is RoHS-compatible and ensures direct data transmission among mobile devices without host and complies with USB 1.1 and 2.0 standards. It has a passive latch mechanism preventing unintentional cable release and has a life span of 10,000 cycles.

The connector's receptacles and plugs are available in a wide variety of mounting and termination configurations. FCI offers Micro USB B and A/B type receptacles (Standard; Mid-Mount and Reverse) as well as a B-type plug.
