Processor achieves wire-speed throughput over Wi-Fi

TranSwitch Corp. has introduced the Atlanta 1000 communications processor that enables customer premises equipment (CPE) manufacturers to achieve high performance for PON, 4G (WiMAX, LTE) and other broadband applications. The device is extremely power-efficient, making it suitable for development of CPE appliances that are PoE-capable.

Atlanta 1000 delivers wire-speed data throughput over IEEE 802.11n Wi-Fi. It provides up to two channels of carrier-grade VoIP, configurable to a wide selection of industry standard narrowband and wideband low bit rate voice codecs from a field proven DSP with over a million ports of commercial deployment.

Despite its small (17mm x 17mm) footprint, Atlanta 1000 packs a tremendous amount of computing power under the hood at very low power (A complete system development kit and turnkey software platform enables OEM customers to achieve extremely fast time to market with the flexibility to customize and differentiate their products to achieve maximum market share. Atlanta 1000 has an open, Linux based software architecture, and a turnkey residential gateway reference design that includes VoIP gateway and secure data router functionality.
