Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) debuts the SiS365 iTV Internet-video HDTV processor. Supporting web-browsing and various customized widgets based on Google Android 2.0 OS, the platform provides a complete

Internet surfing environment, including "easy to use" globalized widgets for YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, Pandora, Weather, USA today, US traffic, Google Finance, and ebay.

The SiS365 addresses the need of larger computing power and graphic rendering for surfing the Internet by integrating an 800MHz 32-bit microprocessor, 32-bit DDRII-800 memory subsystem, and 226MHz OpenGL ES 1.1 compliance graphics engine.

To ensure rich compatibility for online video streaming and flash-based media playing, the chip integrates a 226MHz Universal Video Decoding Engine (UVDE) capable of parsing MPEGII, H.264, MPEG4(Xvid), RMVB, and VC1/WMV9 compliant streams. For audio, the chip integrates a Universal Audio Decoding Engine (UADE) capable of parsing the AAC-LC/HE-AAC/MPEG2-AAC, MPEG1 L1/L2/L3(MP3), AC3/EAC3, and PCM/ADPCM compliant streams. The chip also features Digital Native Video Engine (DNVETM) technology mainly featuring Content Detected 3D noise reduction, Motion adaptive De-interlacing, and frame-based dynamic contrast enhancement.

"The future of the CE industry is towards the universal/scalable Internet video devices to ensure higher interoperability and consistent user experience. With the advent of SiS365 iTV, SiS has made its first step towards this tremendous vision", said Michael Chen, president, SiS. "SiS is very committed to continuing enhancing the performance and user experience of Internet video TV with various customized widgets that will allow users and system vendors to enjoy the best quality at a reasonable price."

Engineering samples for the SiS 365 iTV processor family are now being supplied to manufacturers for design, test and verification. Volume production is expected to commence in the Q3 2010.
