Ubicom introduces its IP8100 family of network processors, geared towards next generation solutions for consumers, SOHO and SMB. The company claims that the IP8100 processors demonstrate best in class performance for routing, security, and advanced services. They offer multiprocessing solution allowing line rate routing, VPN and other networking functions for fiber and other next generation networks.

The processors have an upgraded memory subsystem which includes a 1066MHz DDR3/DDR2 interface enhances performance while helping reduce system cost as DRAM pricing and availability shifts to DDR3.

The IP8100 processors integrate multiple interfaces including two PCIe Gen 2 ports; two USB 3.0 ports, two GbE ports, two USB 2.0 ports and one SLIC interface. It also adopts two display controllers, a camera interface, UART, I2S and S/PDIF for audio output.

The Ubicom platform also provides patented features like StreamEngine automatic QoS to prioritize latency sensitive traffic like streaming video and VoIP; and Wireless Intelligent Stream Handling (WISH) to maximize wireless traffic within the home.

IP8100 processors samples are currently available in a 289-BGA 14mm x 14mm package. This Ubicom solution is offered with an OpenWRT SDK which underwent stringent testing and qualification to ensure quality.
