A cooperation agreement has been signed between Isabellenhtte Heusler GmbH & Co. KG and Austriamicrosystems AG to develop battery sensor ICs, making the most of both companies' expertise on current and voltage measurement of 12V and 24V vehicle batteries and high-performance analog ICs, respectively.

The agreement will enable the companies to focus on their core competences for future development work and drive their market penetration.

Both austriamicrosystems and Isabellenhtte have already introduced solutions for measuring the current of 12V and 24V batteries and also high-voltage systems for hybrid and electric vehicles and will now jointly continue developing their products.

"We feel that by joining forces with austriamicrosystems in our development work, we are increasing our opportunities for developing and producing flexible and adaptable sensor systems", says Peter Mller, managing director, Isabellenhtte.

"We have found a renowned partner in Isabellenhtte, whose precision sensor solutions are highly regarded in the automotive industry. We anticipate that demand for ICs will continue to rise, as battery management is a key technology for hybrid and electric vehicles," explains Bernhard Czar, marketing director, automotive division of austriamicrosystems.
