STMicroelectronics has jumped into the race for next-generation 3DTV-enabled, 120Hz Internet TVs with the launch of two new SoC ICs. The FLI7525, billed as the first-ever TV SoC with integrated 3DTV support and 120Hz MEMC processing, is designed for next-generation 1080p full-high-definition integrated Digital TVs (iDTV).

The flagship product in ST's new Freeman Premier series of SoCs, it uses proprietary technology to implement MEMC to reduce film judder and motion blur and preserve 3D effects with fast motion. It features support for HDMI v1.4a and its required 3DTV formats and includes proprietary 2D to 3D conversion and judder reduction technology, as well as depth control for video and on-screen displays.

The FLI7525 SoC offers an enhanced user experience with full support for broadband-Internet iDTV and better graphics with high-performance H.264/MPEG audio/video decoding and comprehensive integrated features. Meanwhile, the FLI7515, which is meant for the 120Hz 2DTV market, has 120Hz MCTi integrated. Both the FLI7525 and the FLI7515 are pin-and software-compatible with the FLI7510.
