8th-gen device programmer dubbed world's fastest

BPM Microsystems has added a new member to its device programmer family—the model 2800. The company said the eighth generation of its manual universal programmer is the fastest in the industry today, thanks to Vector Engine Co-Processor technology, the same technology used in the company's Flashstream flash-dedicated programmer.

Developed for design engineering and high-volume production, the 2800 accelerates waveforms during the programming cycle using synchronous operations, eliminating dead time. This results in "programming near the theoretical limits of the silicon design—the faster the device, the faster the device is programmed," BPM Microsystems said.

It can program using up to four socket cards while the programmer also offers a single socket card purchase for first article qualification. The socket cards used by BPM Microsystems, unlike its competitors' "gang" cards that are soldered to a common printed circuit board, can be optimized and replaced individually, making the system more efficient. Replacement costs are reduced by up to 75 percent, according to the company.

The 2800, which is on display at Nepcon South China exhibition, will be released later this year.
