CML Microcircuits has launched the CMX138A, the successor to its CMX138 audio scrambler and sub-audio signalling processor. Designed for half-duplex analog two-way radios or family radio equipment, the CMX138A features a user programmable frequency inversion audio scrambler with signal processing functions, CTCSS, DCS and in-band tones for comprehensive voice processing and tone control.

Particularly suited to enhanced MURS, GMRS, PMR446 and FRS designs, it is meant to be the "complete audio solution," CML said. To provide even greater levels of tone control and voice processing, the CMX138A also features improved limiter functions, enhanced CTCSS and DCS performance, a new input automatic gain control function, in-band tone operation enabled down to 288Hz, and improved audio compandor.

It also has an auxiliary ADC channel, auxiliary DAC interface with optional RAMDAC, auxiliary system clock output and transmit output for single-point-modulation and a crystal clock generator with buffered output.

The CMX138A is available in a 28-pin (E1) TSSOP package that draws 3V to 3.6V with flexible powersave modes.
