NXP Semiconductors N.V. announced the UJA107xA family, its next generation of CAN/LIN system basis chips (SBCs) for in-vehicle networks. These chips satisfy the stringent requirements of global car OEMs by providing enhanced EMC performance.

By utilizing NXP's CAN and LIN transceivers, NXP SBCs offer high level integration, performance and scalability for designers. The UJA107xA SBC family saves board space area by over 50 percent, made possible through redesigning more than 10 active components onto a single SBC.

The UJA107xA core SBC substitutes and eliminates the basic discrete components commonly found in ECUs with a high-speed CAN as well as LIN interfaces. Likewise, the core SBC offers an intelligent combination of system-specific features such as advanced low-power concept, safe and controlled system start-up behavior, and detailed status reporting on system and sub-system levels.

Created to be used in combination with a microcontroller incorporating a CAN controller, the UJA107xA SBC ensures that the MCU always starts up in a controlled manner. It also supports networking applications used to control power and sensor peripherals by using high-speed CAN as the main network interface and the LIN interface as a local sub-bus.

Some highlighted features of the UJA107xA SBC family demonstrate outstanding ESD and EMC performance, very low quiescent currents, which help reduce fuel consumption and Carbon emissions. Furthermore, integrated fail-safe functions such as Watchdog and Limp Home enhance automotive system safety are also incorporated.

NXP UJA107xA SBCs maximize the performance, power consumption and cost of electronic control units (ECUs) for a broad range of automotive applications, such as body control modules, climate control, seat control, electric power steering (EPS), adaptive lighting, rain/light sensors, parking assistance and transmission.

Availability: The UJA107xA SBCs are now available for ordering via the NXP website. Test reports from C&S group GmbH, IBEE Zwickau, and UL, as well as the VeLIO report, are also available upon request.
