Laser nav sensor integrates BT 2.1, stand-alone baseband processor

Avago Technologies announced production availability of its ADNS-7630 Bluetooth (BT) 2.1 LaserStream System-on-Chip (SoC) navigation sensor for wireless mouse applications. Avago says it is the industry's first laser navigation sensor to integrate a BT 2.1 transceiver, stand-alone baseband processor and VCSEL surface illuminator into a single package.

Compared with LED-based mice, laser mice function reliably on a greater variety of smooth surfaces. Furthermore, the ADNS-7630 device simplifies Bluetooth mouse design, while enhancing battery life.

It can run for more than 6 months on two AA battery cells.

Avago's LaserStream technology offers precise high-speed tracking on virtually all surfaces, a feature appealing to both laptop users and gaming enthusiasts. With this technology, the ADNS-7630 based mouse features high-speed motion detection of up to 30in per second (ips) and 8G acceleration detection. Also, laser power on all ADNS-7630 devices is pre-calibrated in Avago's factory to meet IEC/EN60825-1 Class 1 Eye Safety standards, cutting down assembly time and as well as cost for the manufacturer.
