Actel Corp.'s SmartFusion FPGAs have won recognition from the embedded systems industry, receiving the Embeddy Award for Best in Show (Hardware) at the Embedded Systems Conference Boston 2010.

VDC Research (VDC) bestowed the award on Actel for developing "something unique" with its SmartFusion FPGAs. "This year's announcement and immediate availability of the new SmartFusion platform integrating a hard Cortex-M3, programmable analog, and a flash FPGA is a brilliant response to embedded designer's need for more functionality and flexibility," said Richard Dean, program manager for embedded hardware practice at VDC Research.

SmartFusion devices use Actel's flash technology and integrates an FPGA, a hard ARM Cortex-M3-based microcontroller subsystem and programmable analog.
