Indonesia's consumer electronics industry is forecast to earn some $7.3 billion this year and about $11.6 billion by 2014. Research and Markets' "Indonesia Consumer Electronics Report Q4 2010" indicates that sales of computing devices, mobile handsets and video, audio and gaming products will continue to soar due to the falling costs of the products, growing affluence of Indonesians, and the increasing number of retailers.

Demand for consumer electronics is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11 percent through 2014, aided by the influx of cheap Chinese goods starting this year, when the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement went in effect.

About 41 percent of the country's consumer electronics spending went to computer hardware such as notebooks and accessories, which reached $2.5 billion in 2009 and is expected to soar to $3.2 billion this year. Low PC penetration is expected to contribute to a 14 percent CAGR on computer hardware.

Audio-video devices made up the second-biggest sector in consumer spending, accounting for 34 percent of the total. This year, spending on AV devices is expected to reach $2.5 billion. Mobile handsets, meanwhile, accounted for 25 percent of spending last year.
