ZTE, Huawei bag Frost & Sullivan awards for IPTV, SDM

Consulting company Frost & Sullivan has bestowed vendor of the year awards to ZTE Corp. and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., two of the world's largest networking and telecommunications equipment suppliers.

ZTE, which received the Best Practice Award2010 IPTV Equipment Vendor of the Year", plum for the second time, was cited for its lofty ranking as the leader in the IPTV middleware markets of Asia and China in the first half of 2010 and as the world's No. 3 IPTV middleware vendor in terms of subscribers.

Frost & Sullivan said the global IPTV market is expected to grow to $17.5 billion this year and to $46.5 billion in 2014.

Huawei received the SDM Equipment Vendor of the Year award for its "outstanding efforts toward the development of the SDM equipment market." SDM is a key approach to operating expenditure and capital expenditure reduction that helps communications service provider networks simplify operations and reduce costs while improving subscribers' user experience through personalized applications and services.

Huawei attended the recent Global Mobile Broadband Forum in Oslo, Norway, where it outlined its agenda for opportunities in the mobile broadband industry.
