Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has reduced DC leakage current (DCL) levels in its new surface-mount tantalum capacitors, boosting the reliability and efficiency of device platforms.

Vishay said its new TM8 series of tantalum capacitors, which utilize proprietary multi-array packaging, boast of DCL as low as 200nA and are available in capacitance-voltage ratings from 1?F/40V to 47?F/10V in seven compact case sizes. The devices undergo stringent processing and testing patterned after MIL-PRF-55365.

The RoHS-compliant devices are rated for operating temperatures of -55C to +85C, +125C with voltage derating, over a voltage range of 2 WVDC to 40 WVDC.

The capacitors are ideal for critical applications such as implantable medical devices, medical instrumentation, and military/aerospace systems but Vishay said they are also available for custom applications.
