3D LCD TVs ditch glasses

Toshiba launched its "Glasses-less 3D REGZA GL1" series, which consists of two LCD TV models that combine an integral imaging system and a perpendicular lenticular sheet with Toshiba's image processing technology to display smooth, natural images.

Toshiba said the TVs create nine parallax images from the original content, resulting in high-quality 3D images "whatever the viewing angle within the viewing zone."

The "personal use" line of TVs come in 12in and 20in models. The 20GL1 boasts of a high definition LED backlit LCD panel specially designed for 3D capability without any need for glasses, It has about four times the pixel density of a standard full HD panel. The Cell REGZA Engine was designed for 3D viewing without glasses while the Cell Broadband Engine helps create "stunningly sharp, dynamic 3D images."
