Taiwan-based Microelectronics Technology Inc. (MTI) announced its signing of an equity and intellectual property purchase agreements with the Denmark-based RadioComp ApS. MTI acquired RadioComp's equity and intellectual property for a total of$11.53 million. RadioComp will be then considered by MTI as a 100 percent subsidiary.

RadioComp will be enhancing MTI's research and development capabilities in software and hardware for advanced wireless communications. With the assimilation of RadioComp's intellectual property, MTI significantly extends its range of core technologies for the development of fourth generation mobile communications technology and LTE-related products.

This move follows MTI's purchase of TelASIC's R&D team, which enhanced MTI RRH market position. Likewise, it has realized a significant growth in revenue based on its RRH product offering. MTI says that with the acquisition of RadioComp, it plans to merge its hardware/software R&D capabilities and will actively develop its 4G market.

Finally, the acquisition also enables MTI to grow its Europe business.
