High-powered VBG red laser line launched

PD-LD Inc. has expanded its portfolio of lasers with the introduction of a line of high-powered, Volume-Bragg grating (VBG)-stabilized multimode 647nm red lasers ideal for Raman spectroscopy, avionics and sensing.

The company said the line is first red wavelength range that uses the patented VBG technology. Key features that set it apart from other products are the compact size, high power, accurate center wavelength and narrow bandwidth.

PD-LD said the VBG wavelength stabilization technique creates lasers with high spectral purity, a line width of less than 0.1nm and high optical power. The laser's spectral stability and consistent power over varied operating conditions are ensured by the internal temperature control.

The first offering in PD-LD's new line has a 500mW power output and is available in fiber-coupled or free-space source variants. It is also available as a turnkey USB-controlled laser source or as a discrete component in a low-profile 14-pin butterfly package.
