Enterprise mobility is receiving a major boost from the adoption of mobile devices using Apple's iOS and Google's Android operating systems, according to Good Technology.

The Good Technology Device Activation Report for 3rd Quarter 2010, based on data aggregated from thousands of Good's enterprise customers, indicates that "consumers are strongly influencing IT decision makers based on their personal mobility choices."

One of the key findings are that the Apple iPhone 4 became the most frequently activated device among Good's enterprise customers less than two months after it was launched. The iPad, meanwhile, joined the top five "quickly." Good Technology said this shows that enterprise customers were eager to adopt the mobile devices for enterprise use. Android also showed sustained increase in its adoption for enterprise mobility, with Motorola's Droid X becoming the most frequently activated Android device in September.

In terms of market share, Apple iOS devices accounted for more than half of net new activations from June to September 2010 while Android devices were a distant second at 30 percent. Windows Mobile, on the other hand, accounted for 15 percent.
