POL voltage regulators for space increase efficiency rating

International Rectifier has made available a new line of efficient non-isolated, radiation hardened point-of-load (POL) voltage regulators designed for mission-critical and long-term space applications such as satellites.

The SBB series are designed for applications that use digital signal processors and ASIC and FPGA technologies, are 89 percent efficient, which means only a small heatsink is needed. They feature 30W output power or output current of 14A while standard outputs of 1V, 1.2V, 1.5V. 1.8V, 2.5V and 3V can be tuned to ±10 percent of a nominal output for precise output setting. The series also integrates input and output filters to deal with noise.

The compact voltage regulators weigh less than 55g and feature 4.5 to 5.5V input range, SEE LET (Heavy Ions) greater than 82MeV.cm² /mg, under voltage lockout, remote sense compensation, adjustable output voltage, power OK status, and remote on and off.
