LSI's 28nm custom silicon platform enables enhanced SoC integration

LSI announced its 28nm custom silicon platform which includes a broad portfolio of IP blocks as well as an advanced design methodology for customized SoCs. The platform design aims to enable OEMs to build differentiated solutions for next-generation data center, enterprise and service provider networking applications.

Using TSMC 28HP high-K metal gate process technology, the 28nm platform enables high levels of SoC integration with increased performance and lower power dissipation. It is supported by a broad range of pre-qualified IP blocks, consisting of high-speed SerDes, protocol solutions, high-performance and high-density memories, a 1000Base-T Ethernet PHY, Tarari deep packet inspection engines, StarCore DSP and microprocessors including ARM, MIPS and PowerPC processors.

Side by side with the previous generation, the current 28nm design libraries extend power savings of up to 40 percent at double the density and up to 25 percent higher performance, empowering customers to attain remarkable performance demands and at the same time reducing product and cooling costs.

The LSI design kits for the 28nm platform are available now. Initial 28nm custom silicon designs are currently in development with multiple customers and will be sampling in early 2011.
