'Smallest' linear Hall sensor IC boasts I²C interface
Keywords:resolution? serial interface?
Designed for consumer applications, such as cell phone cameras, the AS5510 is available in a 1.46mm x 1.1mm, 6-pin WLCSP chip scale package. It features an IC 2-wire serial interface for switching between four different sensitivity ranges and for simple transmission of data to a microcontroller.
The magnetic linear encoder offers contactless linear position sensing in closed-loop position control systems with limited space as such zoom or autofocus camera systems, measuring the absolute position of a simple 2-pole magnet for a typical lateral stroke of 0.5mm-2mm with air gaps of 1mm. Even higher lateral strokes and air gaps are possible using stronger magnets.
A power-down mode with a current consumption of 25?A allows the AS5510 to reduce power consumption while the IC interface offers a speedy connection to the microcontroller without the need for additional analog to digital conversion.
The AS5510 can operate in temperatures from -30C to +85C and runs on 2.5V to 3.6V supply voltage.
