Knowledge-based processor supports IPv6 networks
Keywords:knowledge-based? processor? NGN? switches? routers?
Designed using the advanced 40nm process node, the NL10k knowledge-based processor is capable of 1.6 billion decisions per second of IPv6 processing. It is compatible with older generations of knowledge-based processors, making an easy and upgrade path for OEMs.
Each processor consists of 128 high-performance knowledge-based processing engines and an enhanced Intelligent Load Balancing Engine (ILBE) for the allocation of multiple tasks and the management of communications among all the 128 knowledge-based processing engines.
Integrated advanced Sahasra Algorithmic Engines allow the ILBE and the knowledge-based processing engines to reduce the power consumption of search processing. Also integrated is a Range Encoding Engine, which uses advanced one-hot and fence encoding algorithms to allow customers to effectively double the efficiency of performing port range inspection, an integral part of packet classification.
TheNL10k knowledge-based processor offers up to 150Gb/s of I/O bandwidth and supports 256,000 IPv6 addresses or 1 million IPv4 addresses.
