International Rectifier has unveiled a new family of automotive DirectFET2 power MOSFETs that offer high power density, dual-sided cooling and low parasitic inductance and resistance for heavy load applications, including electric power steering (EPS), power supplies, battery switches on hybrid electric vehicles and integrated starter alternators (ISA) on micro hybrid vehicles.

With a footprint 60 percent less than a D2Pak, the AUIRF7738L2 and AUIRF7737L2 DirectFET2 devices offer "exceptionally low" on-state resistance (RDS(on)). The AUIRF7736M2's PCB footprint, meanwhile, is the same as a 5mm x 6mm PQFN or SO-8 package with low RDS(on) of 2.5mOhm.

The AUIRF7737L2 and AUIRF7738L2 have a large can PCB footprint like the previously released AUIRF7739L2. They both have a package current rating of 315Aand their maximum package current ratings exceed the limits of traditional DPak and D2Pak packages.

The devices are compliant with AEC-Q101 standards, feature an environmentally friendly, lead-free and RoHS compliant BOM, and are in line with IR's automotive quality initiative targeting zero defects.
