Lantiq has unveiled its latest-generation chipset for ADSL linecards, the Geminax XXS V3 chipset, which the company says reduces capital and operating expenses of broadband access networks.

The new chipset, manufactured using 65nm process technology, features integration with up to 36ch data pump in a 17x17mm BGA package. Lantiq said the device is 30 percent smaller than rival solutions and allows system manufacturers to build ADSL systems that are about 20 percent below the EU Code of Conduct limits for broadband infrastructure equipment.

Linecards with current generation ADSL chipsets usually feature 72 channels but Lantiq's chipset allows designing systems with 96 or more channels on a single linecard. The GEMINAX XXS V3 will allow systems to reduce power consumption of a DSLAM by at least 12 percent, the company added.

The Geminax XXS V3 supports all international standards for ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+.
