OSRAM is touting the 150? beam angle of its new product, the Oslon SSL 150, saying it makes for simpler and more efficient LED luminaires.

Targeted at retrofit and downlight designs in particular, the Oslon SSL 150 allows designers to maximize the light in external reflectors. Its small footprint also offers the ability to come up with simpler and lower-profile lamps and luminaires.

OSRAM said it is also applicable for other applications such as diffused lighting in suspended ceilings and for wide-area backlighting with no obvious spots of light. It also offers uniform illumination of the diffuser in retrofits meant to simulate incandescent or halogen light while colors can be mixed at the reflector level.

The 3x 3mm LED is based on a 1mm? chip with a typical brightness of 92lm at 3000K and an operating current of 350mA and 156lm at 700mA. White tones (2700-6500K) and various colors are available.
