Asia, Latin America to drive up mobile TV tuner shipments
Keywords:mobile TV tuner? DTV?
The worldwide mobile TV tuner market will grow by more than 12 percent in terms of compound annual growth rate in value in the 2009-2014 period, says In-Stat. Unit shipments will grow at nearly double that rate.
For digital mobile TV tuners, unit shipments are expected to triple from 2009 to 2014. China is experiencing high growth in the adoption of digital mobile TV services while the United States is seeing new ATSC mobile DTV services launched.
Application of mobile TV tuners has broadened significantly to include mobile phones, laptops and notebooks, portable media players, PDAs, smartphones, portable navigation devices, portable game consoles, and automotive TVs.
There have also been significant developments in device capacity. For instance, highly integrated tuner/demodulator SoCs now feature channel filtering, digital carrier and timing recovery, channel selectivity, gain control, and local oscillator generation, removing the need for an external low-noise amplifier.
