Flow sensor supports electronic gas meter

The new solution combines an Omron transducer with an ST front-end chip, forming a complete stand-alone system. The makers say the solution features leading-edge MEMS micro-thermal sensor technology and is intrinsically compensated for both temperature and pressure variations. It has a built-in circuit that compensates for the multiple gas composition variations. The device is dust-resistant.
The sensor is mounted on a small PCB measuring 7.2x8.6cm. ST said it is highly accurate and consumes very little power. It also features built-in motor drivers for valve control and protection against temperature and vibration effects.
An ultra-low power STM8L152 microcontroller with 32KB flash memory, an LCD display driver, the STLM20 temperature sensor, the LIS332AR accelerometer and the M41T82 real-time clock, as well as power-management and motor-control devices, are available on the sensor board.
