Evatronix SA has just introduced its next generation high-performance display controller, the DISPLAY-CTRL-4K. This Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) compliant IP core accommodates resolutions of up to 4096x2160 pixels with 24 bits/pixel color depth. At Full HD resolution, it yields 60 frames per second, with a frame color depth of 48 bits/pixel.

The new display controller utilizes a standard AMBA AXI interface for quick system-on-chip (SoC) integration. The core is highly customizable and allows for advanced customer optimization. The settings consists of key AMBA AXI parameters: the width of the master data read and address buses as well as the size of the slave address bus. The core's Special Functions Register permits set-up of up to 16 multiple outstanding transactions or long bursts in any combination, and delivers control over all horizontal and vertical timing parameters.

Designers may seamlessly combine the display controller with other system components such as any AMBA AXI bus-compatible memory controller and DVI or HDMI transmitters. Likewise, the core may also output data to a DisplayPort interface by executing the Main Video Stream Source component functionality.
