Cypress' PSoC production reaches 750M mark

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced that it has shipped 750 million units of it programmable SoC (PSoC), eight years after commercial-scale shipment began.

Cypress' programmable analog and digital embedded design platform, which combines analog and digital peripheral controllers with memory on a single piece of silicon, began shipping in 2002 and the company hit the 100-million mark in 2006. The 250-millionth and 500-millionth marks were reached in 2007 and 2009, respectively.

The PSoC architecture is also used in Cypress' other offerings, such as the TrueTouch touchscreen solution, CapSense touch-sensing and PowerPSoC controllers for LED lighting.

The company recently unveiled the PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 families for 8-, 16-, and 32-bit applications in the industrial products, automotive and medical sectors, among others.
