ITRI flexible 2D/3D switchable displays lauded
Keywords:flat panel display? polymer? 3D?
ITRI's Reddex non-toxic fire-resistant composite material, its i2/3DW 2D/3D display, and FlexUPD technology that allows the creation of paper-thin, low-cost flexible flat panel displays earned R&D Magazine's R&D 100 Awards.
Reddex uses polymer inorganic composites that are ignition-resistant and that slow the rate at which fire burns. It is set to undergo testing in the United States, with commercialization eyed in three years.
i2/3DW is a switchable display technology that simultaneously delivers 3D images and 2D information visible to the naked eye. FlexUPD, meanwhile, is described by ITRI as the simplest and most inexpensive method of developing flexible, paper-like flat panel displays. Both i2/3DW and FlexUPD are available for licensing.
